Things I am Thankful for Thursday #41
Before I get started on my 5 things this week, I wanted to share an article with you. Feel free to pass it along. It IS 100% true, I have looked into it on Snopes.com, and there ARE news articles about it.
http://www.wave3.com/story/20321233/child-fighting-late-stage-cystic-fibrosis-breaks-record-for-most-christmas-cards-received
The boy in the article is 9 years old and is in later stages of CF (cystic fibrosis). CF is a disease of the lungs. Unfortunately, most people with CF don't ene up seeing their 30th birthday. CF is a disease that fills the lungs with fluid, and mucous that doesn't go away. Therefore it is suffocating to the person who has CF. The boys name is Dalton Dingus. He has already broken the world record for most Christmas cards recieved, but he would love to recieve more so as to keep the record number going. His address is at the bottom of the article, or it's;
H.C. 62, Box 1249
Salyersville, KY 41465
Feel free to share his address, and the link above!!
A friend of mine had CF. We went to high school together. She was 2 years older than me, but we would still see each other in the halls, after school, or even where we worked. Her name is Micha. Her and her bff Lindsey, used to come into the restaurant where I worked and I got the pleasure of waiting on them most of the time. They both worked at Sonic, and since that was "the place to be" I would see them there quite often too. Unfortuanately, Micha lost her fight with CF last year. Even though we didn't keep in touch after high school, and after we moved away from our small town, I can tell you she was a beautiful person inside and out until she passed. Phew, okay, before I go into full on tears, let me get to my 5 thankful things tonight!!!
1) I am so very thankful to be healthy. I may have been born 2 months preemature, and didn't have much of a chance the first few years of my life, but now at 25, I am quite healthy. And being preemature hasn't affected me in my adult life. Thank god.
2) I am thankful that even though Brad is gone most of the month, that we still get to talk every other day. That may not seem like anything special, but when I only get to see him a few days out of the month, getting to talk to him is great!
3) I am thankful that tomorrow is Brad's payday!!! LOL I swear I'm not a gold digger!!! I fell in love with him BEFORE he had the job that he does now! :)
4) I am thankful that classes for me have been out for almost a week now!!! Most everybody I know is finishing up the semester this week. And I've been done since Sunday!
5) I am thankful that Brad and I were able to pay for my moms hair appt today. That seems so small and petty, but I know my mom really appreciated it!
